a flute knows
This is short piece is in the style of jazz. composed and played back, using a midi keyboard and virtual plugins to turn data into the familiar instruments often used in Jazz.
a life beyond
This has a haunting feel to it as I was considering the unknown things of this world and possibly of the next…
a space whale auction
A crazy idea I suppose, auctioning off space whales, but who can say what the future may bring. Get your orders in early, just in case.
a dream of a dream
Is it possible to dream while in a dream? we are not the first to consider this thing called life as no more tangible or as fleeting as a dream. And maybe like an onion it is more still. one dream wrapped within another, and another, and another.
cat on a cool tin roof
A restless, but relaxed nature at work or play, who can say?
does time require space?
An interesting thought with no easy answer as all that we are is experienced within both. Can there is more, or less?
don’t go down there
You’ve seen it more then once, a horror film scene where the person, against all better judgment or common sense for self-preservation, walks directly into potential doom. While on one hand we say “don’t go down there”, another impulse, curiosity drives us toward the unknown.
who will hear me?
At one time or another, or possibly aways, we wonder, are we alone, are we truly heard, seen, understood, or cared about? While we strive to be individual and unique, along with it must come this too. There will always be a part of us that no other can see, touch or know.
i am a robot
Increasingly, they are a part of our world, non-organic yet life-like. And as time passes, we the organic are becoming through our actions and decisions, machine-like. Neither quite fitting into this nether world of the real and the representation of it.
homage to bernie
Who hasn’t heard the amazing soundtracks by the great Bernard Herman. This is just a simple attempt at re-creating the feel of those timeless scores he was famous for.
i am the future
Many of us look to the future with more then some dread. Of a world driven by heartless technology and governed by a soul less few.
impending showdown
This piece reminded me of the climatic moment in westerns of old when good stood tall in the face of pure evil. Of course there are too few in line to accept this role in reality, and no shortage of their opposite ever present to do us warm.
must we march
It appears it is in our nature to war upon one another. The strong crashing the weak if for no other reason then they can. Perhaps one day though, we can raise above it all and become truly civilized. Until that day, we can as individuals treat others a bit more kindness. It would be a good start.
mourning sorrows
As part of our human awareness, we must experience pain. Pain of injury, the sadness of loss and loneliness. Still, because of this we can more fully appreciate joy, and pleasure as well, though the two are rarely in balance with one another.
cacophony
While some may become disoriented and confused by chaos, other revel in it, prosper, and shine.
an alarming turn of events
Can things go wrong? From bad to worse? They certainly can…
fresh horrors
impressions of a singular day
It’s one of those days. Which days? Oh, you know…
pandammit!
Damn this pandemic, dammit!
pandemic be jazzed
Who ever said that a pandemic couldn’t have its own groove?
pandemica 1
Does a pandemic need its own theme? What do you think?
save the tubas
Some of us are in the habit of rallying to save something or other which has become endangered. We are also in the habit of being the very thing responsible for its demise! Are tubas the next on this long list? I’m not sure, though I haven’t seen one lately, have you?
throwback jack
Old Jack had a knack, for layin’ down riffs that went far back.
wind through the woods
Ah wind, what you carry. What you bring us and take from us. Where do you come from, where do you go?
dtmf calling
Does anyone remember those old button phone tone patterns? Ever think there might be some musical potential there? Turn them into the pitches of a piano keyboard, and just maybe…
